Feedback Strategies

In this post, I'll be talking about feedback strategies and why they're useful. The posts I read were "How to Give Bad Feedback Without Being a Jerk" by Adam Grant and "Be a Mirror" by Gravity Goldberg. Both of these posts explained how we could give better feedback to others.

I really liked learning about these techniques and why they're useful. In the first post, Adam talks about these techniques and also giving an example of how he used them. I learnt from this article that you shouldn't use the "compliment sandwich" but instead be transparent and take yourself off the pedestal. Something very simple as well is just asking the person if they want feedback because that changes the tone how the person views the feedback.

In the second post, Goldberg why we should act like a mirror when giving feedback. The article goes into detail about how acting like a mirror improves the growth mindset in people and what are qualities that you should use. They include being specific on your feedback, focusing on what the person is doing and the process, making sure it can transfer and taking yourself out of the feedback. I really like the last method where you should take yourself out the feedback because it changes our perspective on the feedback and keeps the focus on the person.
